A leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief James Aroh Nweke, lambasted Governor Nyesome Wike of River State and the chairman of the Interim Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP ), elder Fred Udeogu, for their reactions to Umahi’s statement on the type of president Nigeria needs in 2023.
The governor of Rivers State had verbally attacked Umahi, asking the governor of Ebonyi to undergo a psychiatric examination following his comment.
But Nweke, who had twice served as State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Poverty Eradication and Cross-Party Dialogue, respectively in Ebonyi, claimed that the media attacks unleashed on Umahi by Governor Wike were possible. because he (Wike) suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
In a statement made available to Blueprint on Tuesday in Abuja, the former commissioner said patriotic Nigerians know “the arrogant and repulsive nature of Governor Wike and therefore cannot be trusted to make meaningful statements.
“Why can’t he focus and continue his VAT collection activity or better yet emulate Governor Umahi’s poverty eradication and youth empowerment programs, which have had a positive impact on the lives of local people. Ebonyi rather than playing gallery to get unfounded media attention.
“Good PDP members cannot be intimidated by the way Wike organized the impeachment of Prince Uche Secondus before his term ended and installed Yemi Akinwonmi as Ag. President. Wike’s authoritarian attitude of using his state funds to provoke crisis, unrest and draconian PDP policies is no longer a hidden topic.
Former Ivo LGA board chief also advised Elder Fred Udeogu to focus on his failed ambition to become the People‘s Democratic Party, the substantial chairman of the PDP in Ebonyi state because he (Udeogu) cannot match the political sagacity and heights already achieved by the governor’s second term. from Ebonyi State, Ing. David Umahi.
“No ploy to distract Governor Umahi who focuses on developing and changing the narratives of Ebonyi State will ever prevail.”
Nweke, who praised the myriad projects undertaken by Governor Umahi, regardless of the meager resources coming into the state as a federal allocation, noted that Wike’s achievements fell short of the expectations of the people of Rivers, despite the huge allowances entering its state coffers.
“While the general public should view Governor Nyesome Wike’s statement as part of the reaction to his Alzheimer’s disease; let us remain focused on the successful administration of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, despite the insecurity that pervades the country and which will soon become a thing of the past.
“To have a big-hearted leader like President Buhari in the 2023 elections should be a prayer point for every citizen of this country; Sometimes we don’t know what we have until we lose it.
