The Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Zone (LCDA) has launched a two-week empowerment and skills training program to train unemployed youth.

The board also distributed 100 General Certificate Examinations (GCE) forms to 100 LCDA students, who are expected to participate in the upcoming West African Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in November / December.

Speaking at the launch program, LCDA President Akogun Anomo explained that his administration, during the campaigns, had promised to implement massive empowerment programs, especially for the young and the elderly. .

Speaking to beneficiaries, Anomo said, “This skills training program is meant to empower you to start something on your own instead of waiting for white collar jobs that are not available. We believe that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop and we do not want any of our people to remain idle, hence the purpose of this initiation.

“We don’t stop there. At the end of this particular program, we will organize another one for people to learn sewing, hairdressing, furniture making and the like and these training programs can last up to six months.

Upon completion and graduation, we will purchase materials for everyone participating in this training so that they can start their own business.

“We are also concerned about the education of our young people and that is why we have distributed 100 GCE forms to some students, who will take the exam in November / December of this year. We have also organized tutorials for them and we plan to give college scholarships to those who meet our expectations. “
