BENGALURU: IT-BT Minister and MP for Malleswaram, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, cycled with his constituents for Bike Day on Sunday. Emphasizing the importance of cycling and walking to maintain health and fitness during the event organized by the Council for Active Mobility (CFAM) and the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), the Minister said: “Cycling is popular even in developed countries due to increasing concern for the environment and people’s health.

In order to promote cycling and walking, DULT has authorized the organization of a Cycling Day on Sundays until January 2022. fitness, ”he said.

Cycling Day was also an awareness program to promote walking or cycling for locals in areas within 15 minutes, leading to sustainable development and a healthy lifestyle. The Minister cycled a total of 4.2 km with other participants, starting from Malleswaram and heading towards Yeshwanthpur Circle.

Cyclists also rode 104 km, along a route that resembled the map of Karnataka, to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava. Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister Narayana Gowda and award winner Padma Shri and para-athlete KY Venkatesh presented memorabilia to cyclists who successfully completed the 104km stretch.
