Paris Hilton reflects on her week of activism in Washington, DC, which is part of her ongoing advocacy work to help end child abuse.

After claiming to have been physically and emotionally abused at a Utah boarding school as a teenager, Hilton lobbied for greater government oversight of boarding schools, foster families and other organizations for children and teenagers in difficulty.

Since arriving in the nation’s capital on Tuesday, she has joined with other survivors, met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, discussed issues with White House political staff and held a press conference where she called for the passage of the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act, which would increase reporting and monitoring of these institutions.

As part of Hilton’s lobbying efforts to raise awareness over the years, she has accused some staff at Provo Canyon School in Utah of inflicting emotional, physical and psychological abuse on her during her 11-month stay at the age of 16.

During testimony in Utah in 2021, she revealed that she was sent to boarding school in an attempt to tame her rebellious party as a teenager.
