Promising defender Josh Dawodu, who joins Stalybridge Celtic, did exactly that on Wednesday.
The former Arsenal youngster has joined the non-league squad on a month-long loan deal in an effort to gain senior experience away from Hillsborough.
Dawodu has spent a lot of his time with the Owls playing for the U18s and U23s, so this decision will save him valuable first-team time.
The last to leave Hillsborough
Dawodu is not the only young talent to have left Sheffield on Wednesday under short-term loan deals this season.
Left-back Ryan Galvin, shooter Luke Jackson, youngster Ciaran Brennan and midfielders Alex Hunt and Liam Waldock are among the other young Owls to be loaned out.
Next for wednesday
With Dawodu’s loan settled, the focus will be on Sheffield’s Wednesday game against AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.
A victory for Darren Moore’s side could see them climb into the playoffs, while Mark Robinson’s Dons will look to reverse their recent poor form with a win.
