Sonqoba Youth Empowerment hosted a community outreach event in Kliptown to help and motivate families in the area.

Clothing donations were made and a soup kitchen program was also offered to participants. The event, held on June 26, was supported by MM Top Seven, Richu Trading Enterprise and All Day Jam. The day also included motivational speeches from local residents and entrepreneurs, music and dancing.

Sonqoba founder Mpho Namane Sithebe said, “Sonqoba wanted to give back to the community. Some people have been made redundant, others are not working and families are in difficulty. I think this is a pivotal moment right now when we are all supporting where we can with everything we have. We came to help the mothers and children of Kliptown. We contacted several people who made several donations.

One of these MM Top Seven organizations, speaking on behalf of the team, Zandisile Simelela said collaborations between NGOs were the key to success for communities.

“We normally work with non-profit organizations that do great work for their communities. Sonqoba contacted us and told us about this project to help families. We did not hesitate because it is something beneficial for the community and we were happy to be a part of it. We want to see all of our NPOs working together for the success of our communities, ”said Simelela.

Kliptown resident Mery Lebata expressed her gratitude to the organizers of the event.

“I just want to thank you and I think I speak for most of the people here when I say we are thankful. We had a divine day, morale is high and we had a great time, ”she said.

Sithebe concluded the day by thanking the sponsors and everyone who helped.

“Without the support, this would not have been possible. I have to thank Ms. Morrobela, Rich, Top Seven. I would like to thank Pastor Miso who worked very hard on this and my colleague, Tshidi as well as my friend Kelebogile. There are others too, so I want to say a big thank you, ”she said.
