As part of its desire to tackle youth unemployment and poverty in Yewa communities, the Yewaland Development Forum, YDF, has launched an empowerment initiative designed to provide free vocational skills training and digital training to thousands of young girls across Yewa land.
The first phase of the program, titled ‘Intensive 2-Day Girls and Children Empowerment Boot Camp’, was held on Friday August 20 and Saturday August 21 in the ultramodern OGD / Asuje Hall, Ayetoro-Yewa .

Also in attendance were the vice president of the YNLG, senior local government officials, politicians and prominent figures from Ayetoro and beyond.
Over 250 participants from Ayetoro and other towns in the local government area, who signed up for the intensive training program, received marketable vocations such as producing essential daily needs and digital entrepreneurship skills.
A similar event is planned by the organizers in Imeko-Afon, in the local government areas of Ipokia, with a grand finale offered in Ilaro-Yewa, in the local government area of Yewa-South at a later date.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Yewa-North Local Government Zone, the Hon. Ogunyemi, congratulated the organizers of the training program and pledged continued government support for future events.
In his response, the President of the Yewaland Development Forum, Ogbeni Wasiu Fagbohun, pleaded with the participants to make better use of the various skills acquired through the training.
He also reiterated the association’s commitment to have an ongoing positive impact on the lives of the indigenous Yewa.
While the program has succeeded in revealing the abundance of local professional talents and innate abilities among the youth of Yewa country, it also highlights the fact that with this type of initiative, many Yewa communities will be freed from the scourge of unemployment. and youth poverty. .
